SUMMER SOCIAL: Historical Manchester (Tour & Dinner)

Join us for our Summer Social evening taking in some of Manchester's finest architecture, followed by dinner overlooking King Street.

Our Guides for the tour are;

Martyn Markland; a long-standing K-Club Member with a passion for historic buildings, who will guide us around the publicly accessible areas of the Library. He has led a variety of unofficial tours of the Library as well as other famous local landmarks.

John Hodgson; Associate Director (curatorial practices) at the University of Manchester. John leads the team at the Rylands and will take us on an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the building, sharing his extensive knowledge on the building.

The tour of the Library will last around an hour and will be split between "front of house" and “back of house” areas taking in the building’s history, its contents, its future plans and some of its hidden secrets. Afterwards, we'll have a guided walk to the St James’s Club, on which some key local sights will be highlighted - some less obvious than others!

 

At the St James's Club guests will enjoy a welcome drink in the private bar area, before enjoying a tasty 3-course traditionally British meal.

Tickets include the tour, welcome drink (glass of beer or wine, soft drink or single spirit & mixer), and a 3-course meal with a glass of wine. Additional drinks may be purchased from the bar during the evening.

Please arrive from 4.15pm for the tour to start promptly at 4.30pm (1hr duration). We aim to arrive at St James's Club for 6pm, with the meal being served at 6.30pm. Event ends at approx 8.30pm but you are welcome to stay to enjoy the rest of the evening as we have exclusive use of the venue. Vegan/vegetarian options are available. Please advise of any dietary requirements by the end of Friday 28th June at the latest by emailing amanda.manson@k-club.co.uk.

Refunds will not be permitted after 28.6.24 as event costs will have been incurred. You may, however, transfer your ticket to someone else instead - please advise us if this is the case.
