Our Panellists are:

Neil Fachie OBE - Paralympic Cyclist

Neil is a highly decorated cyclist, competing in events for people with a visual impairment. Having won Gold medals in both the 2012 & 2020 Paralymic Games and also in the Commonwealth Games and Track World Championships, he devotes his time outside of cycling to helping others to overcome their fears of failure within the business world.

He was awarded an MBE for services to cycling in 2013, before being awarded an OBE in the 2022 Platinum Jubilee birthday honours.

Neil and his wife, Paralympian Lora Fachie OBE, set up a coaching business to help people achieve their full potential. They use the insights and lessons learned from the world of elite sport to help business leaders achieve a personal best or world record in their industry. The aim is to help clients face their limitations, frustrations, pain and setbacks, and rise above them to achieve their full potential. Neil's book Earn Your Stripes - Gold Medal insights for Business & Life was released in 2020. 

Shaun Hinds - CEO of Manchester Central

Shaun is an MBA Executive with over 20 years' Director and Board level experience and previously led international operations at BridgeStreet Global Hospitality. With experience in working across hospitality, travel, property and business service sectors, he is passionate about innovation, technology and executing change strategies for both entrepreneurial and highly complex organisations. 

He was appointed CEO of Manchester Central in 2017 and leads the team in its mission to drive business growth in the region through the development of their three key assets: their experienced team of people, their world-class facilities, and their outstanding levels of service. With a focus on innovation to achieve this, Shaun is passionate about maximising opportunities as Manchester cements itself as the UK’s second city and the heart of the Northern Powerhouse.

Shaun is also Director and Chair for The Events Industry Alliance Ltd and the Association of Event Venues and is Director and Trustee for the Grade II* listed Victoria Baths which is widely recognised as Britain’s finest historic swimming pool.

Jim Liptrot - MD of Howorth Air Technology Ltd

Jim is a successful Managing Director with over 30 years leadership experience and a track record of cultural transformation within a variety of settings. 

Following a successful 25-year career at British Aerospace where he started as an engineering apprentice and developed through a variety of engineering and leadership roles within the company Jim has successfully utilised the training, development, and expertise gained in a Blue-Chip environment to enable the positive development and growth of several northwest based companies. 

Through a razor-sharp focus on Purpose, Values and People Development Jim has spent the last 5 years leading the successful transformation of a once struggling but long-established Northwest Company, Howorth Air Tech, which supports on a global basis both healthcare providers and pharmaceutical manufacturers, into one of the most respected companies across Greater Manchester. 

These achievements were recently recognised by the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter Awards for Best Company for Employee Engagement and most improved SME, and more recently with the award of Best Bolton Company in the Bolton Business Awards. Featuring in a recent BBC Radio Podcast “Analysis” for creating a great working environment Howorth Air Tech were also included in the E2E International 100 track, featuring the UK’s fastest growing export companies over the last two years with a minimum annual turnover of £10 million.
